January 2023 News
The beginning of January can inspire resolutions for positive change. At the Library, we’re looking to a “New Year, New Chapter” with trying out new seating arrangements, starting updates to our library website, planning for 2023 program events, services, and more!
Do you have resolutions that the Library can help you achieve? Try one of our exercise DVDs; explore the world from home with a book or travel documentary about locations you want to visit; get inspired to pursue better organization with Marie Kondo or the Home Edit; borrow a puzzle or game to spend more time with friends and family.
And if your resolution is to read more in 2023, we can set you up! Come by to browse physical books, audio books on CD, or get started with e-Library platforms Hoopla & Libby. All it takes is a library card – which is free to set up!
Friends of the Lindsborg Library Annual Meeting
Come join us Monday, January 16th at 7pm for the Annual Meeting! There will be refreshments, reports on the successes of 2022, and planning for 2023.
The Friends of the Lindsborg Library (FoLL) Board is looking for more members, both general board positions & board officers. If you are interested in more information, contact our Library Director or FoLL President Diane Reece.
Graphic Novels
Graphic novels are a format, not a genre. They can be fiction or nonfiction, written for child, teen, or adult audiences. Sometimes they are original works; sometimes they are adaptions. At our Library, graphic novels do not have their own section, but are indicated by a red sticker on the spine.
Like comics, graphic novels use pictures as a medium for storytelling. Unlike comics, graphic novels are a longer, novel length story with a complex plot and structure rather than short, interconnected strips. Ask a Librarian for Suggestions on Graphic Novels available now!
There’s still time to join our Winter Library Program!
Purple booklets are available at the front desk; tickets may be submitted for prizes until January 28. These contain self-paced activities and challenges, including a BINGO board of book recommendations.
Upcoming Events in January include:
Drop-in Storytime on Tuesday mornings 10 am-12 pm, January 10-31. Come-and-go or come-and-stay for this program of guided play, reading, music, and more designed for families with children age 5 and younger.
LEGO Club on Thursday afternoons 4-5pm January 12-26. Join our hour long program to flex your creative & engineering muscles! Bricks are provided by the Library… just bring your imagination!
Come join our celebration of Squirrel Appreciation Day on Saturday, January 21, 10am-1pm. There will be squirrel themed searches, crafts, and stories for the young & young-at-heart. Check back here or on our Facebook page for more details to come!
The Library is also celebrating Kansas Day (Jan 29) on Saturday, January 28, 10am-1pm. More details will be coming soon!
If you can’t make it to an event, you are always welcome to visit the Library when it best suits your schedule – we will have come-and-go style fun available when you visit!
