Occurring in October of odd numbered years, the residents of Lindsborg host a community-wide festival and don traditional Swedish folk costumes to celebrate the Swedish pioneers who settled the Smoky Valley in 1868 – 1869. The festival features art and crafts, special foods, ethnic music, and other special entertainment while Swedish folk dancers and musicians add to the flavor of the festival.
This year’s Hyllningsfest will be held October 17 & 18, 2025 and we look forward to celebrating at the Library! The Library will be open Friday, October 17, 10AM – 6PM & Saturday, October 18, 10AM – 4PM. During all open hours, we will offer come-and-go style activities for the young & young at heart: a scavenger hunt (with scratch-and-sniff bookmark prizes), coloring stations, puzzle table & more!
On Friday, 3:00-3:30 PM, we will officially announce the Carol Ann Pearson Memorial with a short program accompanied by refreshments and browsing the first ways Carol’s memory is being honored at the Library: new furnishings for the Children’s Area and the first round of at least 10 years’ worth of book & program enhancement for children & youth services. Her memorial will also provide for the remodeling costs of the teen space in the Library Building Project, providing significant support for Phase 2 construction costs as a whole. Please come visit with them as we celebrate Carol’s life and look to enhance library services in grateful honor of her memory!
On Saturday, be sure to come for the Grand Parade, starting at 10AM. Watch for the Dala Librarians — we hope to see you there!
