The 2026 Summer Library Program: Unearth a Story is coming: May 26 to August 1!

Self-Paced Challenges include booklets for Early Literacy (Age 5 & Younger) and K-8th grade levels & BINGO Boards for teens and adults. These all start May 26. Booklets provide suggestions for a variety summer learning and opportunities to earn prizes: track your reading, take on a themed challenge, play Library BINGO, go on scavenger hunts, and more! For BINGO Boards, each square provides suggestions to guide your summer reading and a chance to earn prizes with every BINGO line read & completed. Do as much or as little as you like: you get to choose!

Early Literacy Summer Story Time Events will be held Tuesday & Thursday Mornings, 10:30 – 11:15 AM. Join Miss Suzanna for family-style programs designed for children 0-5. You are welcome to gather to play starting when the Library opens at 10; bubbles will start story time at 10:30, we will have board books, music, and guided play through 11:15; then you are welcome to linger as long as you like!

Tuesday Mornings will tend to have more books, music, and rhymes before indoor play; Thursday Mornings will tend to have a shorter story time followed by extended messy play. Upcoming Specials include: Tuesday May 26: Dance Story Time with Miss Michelle from Tamara Howe School of Dance, Thursday June 4: Water & Ice Sensory Play, Thursday June 11: Dirt & Rocks Sensory Play, Thursday June 18: Kinetic Sand Sensory Play, and Thursday June 25: Dance Story Time with Miss Michelle from Tamara Howe School of Dance.

Elementary & Middle Grade Events will include LEGO Club, Summer Surprise, and a new Youth Book Club.

LEGO Club will be held Thursday Afternoons 4:00 – 5:00 PM. The Library provides the bricks… you just bring your imagination! To attend solo, children need to have completed Kindergarten; interested PreK children may attend if accompanied by a teen or adult helper during the entire program.

Summer Surprise will be held Tuesday Afternoons 4:00 – 5:00 PM, starting June 2. Join us for a variety of summer fun with hands-on activities – art, games, movies, and more! Details will be announced as available.

Youth Book Club will be held Wednesday Mornings, 10:30 – 11:30 AM. We are starting a Book Club targeted for rising 5th – 8th graders! As voted on by the rising 5th grade class, our first book will be The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. Books will be available at the Library on the first book club date, May 27.

Teens & Adult Events include a Community Book Chat and Silent Book Club.

The Friends of the Lindsborg Library (FoLL) Community Book Chat will be held on Tuesday, June 2 at 7:00PM over The End of Drum-Time by Hanna Pylväinen, led by Dr. Aubrey Streit Krug. Books are available now at the Library to read the novel before the event to share in the discussion. Come renew or start your FoLL membership to join in on the refreshments at 6:30 PM; everyone is welcome to join the chat beginning at 7:00 PM.

The Silent Book Club will be held Fridays May 29, June 26, July 31; 5:30 – 7:00 PM. Silent Book Club starts out silent: bring your own choice of book and gather to read together at the Library. The Silence ends when the snacks begin, about 6:30PM. All are welcome, but not required, to share about what they are reading.

All Ages are invited to join us for the America 250: Share Your Stories, Rolling Hills Zoo, and Midsummer’s Day Festival.

America 250: Share Your Stories will be held Saturday, June 13, 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM. America is celebrating its 250th birthday as a country – where do your (or your family’s) stories fit within our broader national history? This hands-on writing session will offer prompts to gather stories – for your self or for sharing. If there is interest, local stories will be compiled and added to the Library’s local history collection. Additional sessions coming in July.

The first Zoo to You event will be held Friday, June 19, 5:00 – 5:45 PM. Rolling Hills Zoo is bringing the Zoo to You! Learn more about animals – and the real animal ambassadors that come to the Library. More sessions for this annual favorite are coming in July!

The Library be open extended hours, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, for the Midsummer’s Day Festival on Saturday, June 20. Both come-and-go style activities and special events will be available – more details coming soon!
