Construction Update: This week our construction crew made good progress: the foundation was laid for the updated exterior at the expansion building, the trench to bring power & data to the circulation desk under the floor was cut, wired, and refilled, and the crew started hanging drywall.
Next week, the construction crew will continue hanging drywall, frame the exterior of the expansion building, and start demolition at the front of the main library! We are still on schedule to complete this phase of construction by July 25, 2025.

Fundraising: Thanks to your donations and re-allocations of all funds eligible for use on construction, we are tentatively planning on moving ahead with the full remodel of the Heritage Room. If demolition reveals more problems than expected, we may still be held back to simply opening up the area, but we hope our team has already spotted the problems that need to be fixed & included them in our budget plan.
Re-allocating funds means that we will need new funding sources for furnishings and general library support. However, the Library Board was in agreement that it was important to invest in the completion of the Heritage Room remodel now when it will be most cost efficient since construction crews are already at work. We are confident that we will continue to receive the support we need when the time comes – our local community has been so faithful in your support of this project through your encouragement and gifts of all sizes. We greatly appreciate you and are glad to serve such a supportive community!
Visiting the Library: The Library continues to be open our regular hours: Monday – Friday 10AM to 6PM and Saturday 10AM to 2PM. We have moved all Library functions to the back half of the building. Since the construction crew will be working in the area around the front entrance, please use the back door to enter the Library.
If you are able-bodied, please consider parking further away so patrons with mobility concerns or small children can use the parking lot directly behind the mural. Street parking is available on Lincoln and Main; public parking lots are available at Dollar General and the USD 400 District Office.
Thanks for your patience through the inconveniences that come up as we keep moving forward!
